Francesco Dini is no longer the president of US Cremonese. The executive resigned after a three-year tenure, citing new professional commitments in publishing and real estate.
Dini sent a message of thanks to the club. "In these three intense and beautiful years I have put my experience in institutional relations at the service of U.S." the former president stated.
His gratitude was directed in particular to president Giovanni Arvedi. "I thank President Giovanni Arvedi for the trust placed in me and the management and all the collaborators for the work shared with passion and seriousness," Dini added. He then expressed his wishes for the future of the club and for Maurizio Calcinoni.
The change at the top comes at a delicate time for the grey-reds. Cremonese currently sit 18th in Serie B with just six points from eight matches, having recorded one win, three draws and four losses. The team has scored only six league goals while conceding eleven, for a goal difference of minus five. Their last outing, a 0-1 home defeat to Juve Stabia on Saturday 24 October, confirms their struggles in the league and extends their recent form to two wins, one draw and two losses from the last five games, with the last two ending in defeat.
Giovanni Stroppa's team therefore has a record of one win, three draws and four losses. Their next fixture is a tough away trip against Mantova, who are second in the table, on Tuesday 27 October.
The gap to the top, held by Palermo, is sixteen points. The updated standings show a team that needs to turn things around after two consecutive defeats. The midweek match against Mantova presents an immediate challenge to secure valuable points.
