CREMONA - US Cremonese have officially terminated Davide Nicola's contract. The announcement was made via the club's official website, which thanked the coach for his work.
The club stated: "U.S. Cremonese comunica di aver trovato l’accordo per la risoluzione consensuale del contratto con Davide Nicola.". Nicola was sacked by Cremonese on 18 March, replaced first by Marco Giampaolo and then, at the start of this season, by Fabio Pecchia.
The mutual termination now frees Nicola to take over as head coach of Venezia in Serie A. The lagoon-based side, currently on zero points after six matches, are expected to appoint him ahead of their next fixture against Napoli. His first training session with the new team is scheduled for Thursday 15 October.
For Cremonese, now 15th in Serie B with 6 points, the matter closes a chapter. Pecchia's team are unbeaten in their last five games, with a record of two wins and three draws. Their next away fixture is against Pisa, seventh in the table, on 17 October. The full upcoming schedule can be found on the site's fixtures page.
