CREMONA - US Cremonese have an offensive issue, having scored only five goals in their first six Serie B matches. In four of those six games, the team failed to find the net at all.
The negative run began with the first two rounds, both 0-0 draws against Empoli and Modena under coach Marco Giampaolo. With the arrival of Fabio Pecchia, the attack briefly found its way with goals in wins against Padova (3-1) and Cesena (2-2). The problem resurfaced in the last two outings, however, with two more goalless draws against Virtus Entella and Arezzo.
The prolonged absence of main striker Federico Bonazzoli, who has three goals in five appearances, has been felt. The team currently sits 15th in the standings with six points, ten points off the top. The next challenge is a tough away fixture against Pisa, who come into the match with eleven goals scored and sit in seventh place. The full schedule is available on the fixtures page.
Marco Lombardi remarked, "Cremonese, in Serie B so far four rounds out of six without scoring a single goal." The last match, a 0-0 draw at Arezzo on October 10, confirms the struggle. To turn the trend around, Pecchia will need to find attacking solutions before the kick-off at Pisa on October 17. The squad list can be viewed in the squad section.
