CREMONA - Tommaso Berti is convinced Cremonese have what it takes to turn their season around. The midfielder, born in 2004 and signed this summer, spoke ahead of the home match against Juve Stabia, following the recent defeat to Pisa.

Fabio Pecchia's side sit 16th in Serie B with six points from one win, three draws and three losses. Their last result was a 3-1 defeat away to Pisa last Saturday, where Berti himself scored a consolation goal in the 32nd minute from a Jari Vandeputte assist. The next fixture is at home to 18th-placed Juve Stabia on Saturday 24 October, a chance to climb the standings.

Berti, 22, who has scored twice in nine appearances, highlighted the positive mood within the camp. "We know the points collected so far are few, but every week we work well and the atmosphere is the right one," the player stated. "Clearly we need something more during the match, but with the group and the individuals we have, the results will come and will be the fruit of the work done."

His integration into the squad has been seamless. "First of all, I want to say that I have felt great in Cremona since day one, with the city and with my teammates," Berti added. The midfielder felt comfortable with both former coach Giampaolo, with whom he did pre-season, and current boss Pecchia.

Role and ambitions

For Berti, his on-field position is secondary, whether he plays as a mezzala or a trequartista. His goal is to bring quality, assists and goal-scoring chances, aspiring to become a reference point in midfield. His maturity has grown since his experience at Fiorentina at age 18, and he now faces his second adventure away from home certain it will give him a lot.

The team shows a positive attitude and a desire to redeem themselves after relegation. With six goals scored and ten conceded, the goal difference is negative but the weekly work, according to Berti, is solid. The top scorer this season is Franco Bonazzoli with three goals in five appearances, a figure the team can rely on.

This coming weekend, besides the first team's match, is packed with fixtures for the youth sector. Among these is the call-up of Fabrizio Pasotti to the Italy Under 16 national team. The match against Juve Stabia kicks off at 16:15 on Saturday at the Giovanni Zini stadium.
