MANTOVA - The Serie B derby between Mantova and US Cremonese on 27 October will be played without away fans. The prefect of Mantova, Roberto Bolognesi, has banned ticket sales to residents of Cremona province for the match scheduled for 20:00 at the Danilo Martelli stadium.

The decision was taken by the Committee for the Analysis of Security in Sporting Events after consulting the Mantova police chief and receiving a favourable opinion from the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security. The meeting was also attended by the Mayor of Mantova, the Vice President of the Provincial Administration, and the provincial commanders of the Carabinieri and the Financial Police. The measure specifically concerns the Curva Cisa, where access will be allowed only to non-residents of Cremona.

The episode comes at a delicate time for manager Giovanni Stroppa's team, which sits 16th in the league with 6 points from 7 matches, having recorded one win, three draws and three losses. The 3-1 defeat at Pisa in their last outing ended a positive run of two wins and two draws, with their recent form over the last five games reading two wins, two draws and one defeat. Before the derby, the grey-reds must focus on the home match against 18th-placed Juve Stabia, scheduled for Saturday 24 October.

The team, which has scored 6 goals and conceded 10, with a goal difference of -4, will be looking for valuable points to move away from the lower reaches of the table, as they trail league leaders Palermo by 13 points. The next fixture in Mantova, albeit in an unusual atmosphere, represents an important opportunity to redeem the performance at Pisa, where Tommaso Berti's goal was not enough. For an attacking spark, the team will look to its top scorer this season, F. Bonazzoli, who has 3 goals in 5 appearances.
